Bank Holiday Weekend!

Aug 21, 2014

Exciting news everybody! This weekend is a three day weekend, that's right Monday is a bank holiday so the school is closed! It's quite a special weekend in London at this time of year, it's Notting Hill Carnival! This is the biggest Carnival in the UK, and it happens in Notting Hill this Sunday and Monday. There is a parade that starts at 9am and finishes at 7pm, winding it's way around the streets of Notting Hill, with lots of different floats and music. There's also a lot of street stalls selling food, especially Jamaican food like jerk chicken and sound systems that don't move on the street corners playing all kinds of music. It gets really busy at Notting Hill so if you don't like crowds then go on the Sunday which is traditionally 'family' day. Most people in London go on the Monday though and have a big party. If you do go - be safe and look after your friends and your belongings - it really is busy and you don't want to lose anything or anybody! Have a look on the website http://www.thenottinghillcarnival.com/ for the routes of the parade and some more information.
