Any job interview is a nerve-wracking experience, particularly if it isn't conducted in your native language. If you follow these simple tips, you should make a great first impression – and hopefully clinch that job! Preparation is key As soon as you know the date and time of the job interview, you should be making an effort to prepare. One of the best ways to do this is by getting an English-speaking friend to ‘play the role’ of the interviewer, asking you questions you would expect to have to cover in the real thing. At the end of the mock interview, ask your friend to give you feedback – …

ICE English students!  Welcome to my new weekly, London blog.  Join me as I learn a little more about this fascinating, ancient metropolis every day. One of the  world’s most famous clock towers is in Central London and known  by tourists including the English as “Big Ben”. ABOUT BOOKS AND STUFF… What’s one of the best ways to improve your English outside school hours? Apart from hanging out in  the Three Johns practicing English over a pint or two the answer is… reading, reading and…reading as much as you can, as often as you can, on the tube, on your lunch break, while you’re waiting for the bus, before and after your lesson. I’ve always been very passionate and enthusiastic about literature, though I admit I can be a very fussy reader who likes browsing, looking for independent bookshops and hunting for a bargain. There are interesting places just around the…

Best things in life come in threes like excellent English courses in an independent language school located in the perky area of Angel. Sometimes best things also come for free, think of museums and art galleries. From 21st until 23rd of October Stokey is the place where you need to be.  All gig…

When documentation is required to prove proficiency in the English language, many non-native English speakers are unsure which examination to take. The two most popular British tests are the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) and the Cambridge English (CAE). Although there are some similarities between them, it is worthwhile taking a look at some of the key differences, to help you decide which one is right for you. The basics IELTS is taken by almost 2 million people every year. It assesses writing, reading, speaking, and listening. The CAE also tests these core abilities…
