Choosing the Right English Language Course for you

Sep 09, 2016

At the Islington Centre for English, we offer a range of English language courses to suit a wide range of needs and abilities. Choosing the right course for you means finding a course that fits around your daily schedule and meets your long-term or short-term goals for improving your English fluency.

Our most popular course is our General English morning course, which takes place every weekday morning between 9:15 and 12:15am. This course is great for learners who want to get their lessons out of the way early, freeing up the afternoon for work and play. Many people find that our morning lessons fit well around childcare and work, and they are often our most convenient English lessons for parents of school-age children.

Our General English afternoon course is cheaper than our morning course, and it suits learners who feel they learn better later in the day. If you're not a morning person or you're on a tight budget, our afternoon English courses, which take place on weekday afternoons between 12:30 and 3:30pm, might be the best option for you. You may also want to take our afternoon English course if you work in the mornings or evenings.

Of course, many people can't attend either of these courses. If you're working from 9 to 5 and need English lessons that work around your schedule, you might want to enrol in our General English evening course. This takes place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30pm and is popular with learners in full-time employment. The downside of the evening class is that it only takes place two nights per week, and is therefore only available to students who are already considered to be at a B2 (upper-intermediate) level of fluency or above. Our evening course is perfect if you already speak English well but want to improve your fluency.

Finally, we also offer an intensive English course for learners looking to improve their English fluency quickly and efficiently. This course effectively combines the lessons from our morning, afternoon and evening classes, offering students a total of 30 to 34 hours per week of English language lessons. This course is the best general English course for students looking to improve very quickly, and is popular with students that are being sponsored by a company or those planning to take an IELTS exam. The intensive course is a lot of work and is only for students who have the time and energy for full-time study, though it does offer the best results in the shortest time.

Whatever you decide, it's important to ensure that the English course you choose fits your daily schedule. All of our courses offer a high standard of English tuition delivered by native speakers of English, and students on all of our courses are awarded an ICE certificate upon completion of the course.
